Carewell is an online store for family caregivers, founded in 2017. It sells expert-vetted care products for use at home, along with guidance and customer support for people caring for a loved one.
Jon Valliere, Carewell’s VP of Technology & Engineering, leads the team that builds and runs the company’s e-commerce platform. He had met TekRecruiter candidates in interview processes at earlier companies, so when his own team needed an engineer in 2025, he brought the search to TekRecruiter.
A TypeScript and Playwright engineer for proprietary work
Jon needed a senior software engineer with strong TypeScript skills and hands-on depth in Playwright. The engineer would work on proprietary projects for Carewell’s platform, so general web experience was not enough. Both skills had to be proven in production work.
That combination narrows the market quickly. Many engineers list TypeScript, but far fewer have used Playwright in depth on a production codebase.
A nearshore search, screened for both skills
TekRecruiter ran the search through its nearshore practice. Its nearshore engineers are senior, English-fluent engineers in Latin America who work US hours, so they join standups, review code and solve problems with the rest of the team in real time.

A hire that has worked out very well
TekRecruiter found the right senior engineer in less than three days, and Jon made the hire. The engineer joined Carewell’s team as a nearshore hire in 2025 to work on the proprietary platform projects the role was created for, and the hire has worked out very well.
